For years, people have loudly argued that Hollywood and violent video games promote violent crime and glorify gang behavior. Studies have consistently debunked any such link. Nevertheless, we keep seeing people press this claim.
What we should have been worrying about was how Hollywood and popular culture was legitimizing police violence and how "good cops" needed to break rules and treat suspects like the scum they were to get results. Warrants? Procedures? Good cops know when to break those for the greater good.
In fairness, some people did publicly warn about this. But compare the number of studies trying to find a link between violent video games and criminal behavior with the number of studies trying to find a link between police brutality and cop movies.
