NTIA Petition on Sec 230
Jul. 28th, 2020 05:55 amRemember the Trump Executive Order on social media and limiting the liability protection of Section 230? Well, NTIA (the Executive Branch office that is the designated interface with the FCC) made the deadline under the E.O. and filed the rulemaking petition as demanded.

If you are curious about what happens next procedurally, you can see my blog post here: https://wetmachine.com/tales-of-the-sausage-factory/breaking-down-and-taking-down-trumps-executive-order-spanking-social-media/Tl;DR, the FCC will put this out for public comment, probably in the next few days. If the FCC follows the standard form in the rules, parties will have 30 days (from the time the FCC issues public notice of the Petition) to file a statement of support or opposition, and then 15 days to reply. See 47 C.F.R. 1.405
For why I don't think the FCC has the authority to do what the Petition asks, see my blog post here: https://wetmachine.com/tales-of-the-sausage-factory/can-trump-really-have-the-fcc-regulate-social-media-so-no/
