The problem is not that Facebook is a bad "person" who needs a spanking. The problem is that profit maximizing firms seek to maximize profit in every way possible permitted by law. Facebook is only one company engaging in practices we find invasive and manipulative. What we need are laws. Life by roving mobs vigilante Internet trolls is surly the definition of "nasty, brutish and short."

There also seems to have been a loss over the past few decades of the feeling that companies are responsible for the well-being of their employees and customers. Now it's all about profit and nothing else.
