Getting Ready for Pennsic, Missing Becky
Jul. 19th, 2019 07:09 amSo for folks who haven't followed on FB or otherwise heard, Becky has had serious mobility problems for a year now. Much of this is due to nasty arthritis in the knees, but she has also suffered from an idiosyncratic skin condition producing really nasty sores. Happily, this later is now mostly under control.
At the end of June, Becky had a massive cellulitis attack which led to serious dehydration issues and kidney shut down She was in the hospital from July 1-9. The attack left her very weak, so they discharged her to a physical rehab/nursing home facility. She is slowly improving, but she is in there until at least the beginning of August.
We had already planned for me and Aaron to go to Pennsic without her, and her folks were coming down to take care of her while we were gone. After some discussion, we decided she was doing well enough for me to go to Pennsic even if she is still in rehab (and, as she pointed out, I need the break).
All this is good. But I still miss Becky terribly here at home. Yes, I see her every day. For one thing, the facility she is in does not have kosher food, so I deliver her meals every day (double portion on Friday, since the rehab is outside the eruv). I still miss her being here at home, as do the cats. I will be very, very happy when she returns.
