All things considered, life is not bad.
Mar. 23rd, 2020 06:39 amAll things considered, Becky and I are managing fairly well. Thank goodness Becky is mostly recovered and does not need regular doctors appointments anymore. She has cancelled her visits to the wound clinic pending the end of the crisis unless she has some sort of flare up, as the remaining sores are manageable without going to the wound clinic which is in a hospital.
We both work from home reasonably well. The one issue is coordinating meetings. We both have nifty new high quality headsets (which makes a difference). The biggest problem if feeding Becky healthy food because supermarkets are so out of everything every time I go. (Becky remains on a restricted diet.)
I am, paradoxically, feeling better than I have in some time. Why? Because my work actually has meaning again. This Administration has been very difficult for me as a policy person Mostly fighting losing battles and trying to lay the groundwork for longer term fights. But broadband is one of the more important services in the Covid-19 crisis, and I am doing a bunch of work on how to keep people connected and measure how well the network manages under these conditions. It isn't directly solving the Covid-19 crisis, but I don't feel nearly as helpless as I might otherwise feel.
Hang in there, everyone.

Date: 2020-03-23 08:55 pm (UTC)I must confess as soon as everyone started self-isolating, my first thought was "Harold is about to be proven right on everything he's been telling us about the state of US broadband. Harold is probably not happy he's being proven right."
But as you say, having been proven right, now the appropriate folks may actually listen.
We've found plenty of food. However, TP is going to be a problem soon...
