It is important to keep in mind that the newspaper industry is NOT synonymous with journalism or good reporting. FB is not required to prop up a bunch of consolidated moguls or send traffic their way. (Which, of course is a rather chutzpahdick demand since the same newspapers have been claiming that FB unfairly "steals" their content and therefore FB ought to have to pay a license fee to link to it.)

Additionally, it is worth noting the supposedly offensive statements that newspapers are upset about are:
1. Zuckerberg doesn't care about your industry.
2. We want to work with you, but we are not going to deliberately drive content to you.
3. If you don't work with us, then in 5 years you're going to be a dead industry.
Tell us a lot more about the offended dignity of the newspaper publishers. These are all simply true, and #2 says that we're not going to let you dictate to us how to run our business because you don't want to change.
