Of Jews who pass telling me what's relevant about anti-Semitism. Wear a kippah around D.C. for a few months, then talk to me. Make sure you take public transportation.

(Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure all the nasty incidents I've had in D.C. have been either at bus stops or on the Metro. Hadn't noticed that before. Weirdness can happen anywhere (why does wearing a kippah signal people to talk to you about their Bible study class? Or ask me to translate something Hebrew they heard?), but all the harassment has been on Metro.)

Very sorry you have to deal with both problems.

There are times I wish I felt that wearing a kippah would be a part of my religious practice, so I could be out instead of passing, but it just doesn't feel right for me as a female (I know women who do; clearly it's on me). I admire your fortitude, even as I wish it weren't necessary.
