It takes us about 7-1/2 hours to drive from Rockville. That includes food, fuel and bathroom stops.
Depending on how early you arrive at the airport, my recollection is it's about 5 hours door to door by plane.
ETA: Based on the above, plane is clearly shorter. Which one you prefer depends on (a) how much travel time you can spare, (b) how much stuff you have to schlep, (c) how many airfares you have to buy, and (d) whether you want a car there, that you don't have to rent.
We've been driving the last several years, except for 2016 when we had to fly due to my work schedule. I've been known to bring 3 guitars, plus we have Mr. Toddler's stuff, plus we can get the time off. Driving works for us.
