Prometheus brought fire down to man. For this, Zeus punished him by chaining him to a rock and having a giant eagle tear out his regenerating liver.

 

The message here is clear. Incumbents do not like disruptive technology. However much incumbents may say they care about their captive customers, disruptive technology is always a threat and incumbents will act accordingly.
